What precautions are we taking to stop the spread of COVID-19?
The safety and well-being of our patients is our #1 priority, and we take our role to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities very seriously.  Our decision to open practices is guided by when state “stay-at-home” orders are lifted, dental service mandates allow for it and the practice has an adequate supply of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-approved Personal Protective Equipment like masks, gloves, face shields and gowns. If these criteria are not met, then the practice will remain temporarily closed out of an abundance of caution. For practices that are safely providing care, our team is operating under enhanced safety protocols, which include additional stringent cleaning and sanitation procedures, new in-practice appointment protocols and implementing social distancing guidelines.

What kind of distancing measures are being followed at your offices?
We are allowing only patients who are receiving care to enter a practice. Please notify your location of any special accommodations. No additional guests or family members will be allowed to accompany a patient during the visit. When necessary, patients’ family and support networks can assist with appointment arrivals. After check-in, individuals not receiving treatment should wait outside the office. We are implementing a no waiting area in our lobby and limiting the use of our dental chairs by providing an empty treatment area between each patient. The practice will work with you if you desire to have a virtual consultation with another family member while you are inside the practice.

What happens after I make my appointment?
The practice staff will call for a virtual pre-screening prior to your appointment. The purpose of the screening is to check your current health status and also provide you with information on new safety protocols being followed in our practice to keep you and our staff safe.

What is considered an emergency?
An emergency may include: 

  • If active bleeding continues after 3-4 hours of applied pressure to your surgical site
  • If you are unable to maintain a nutritious diet after 48 hours
  • If numbness persists after your initial day of surgery
  • If pain or swelling increases after the third day
  • If bleeding has not decreased after two days
  • If sutures or stitches become loose or dislodged prior to the third day or if an implant becomes loose
  • If an implant fractures
  • If you have any symptoms which may indicate a reaction or allergy to medications, such as:
  • skin rash
  • hives
  • elevated temperature
  • increased and/or erratic heart rate
  • nausea/vomiting
  • dizziness/faint
  • blurred vision
  • If your body temperature, measured orally, exceeds 100.5° F
  • If you have difficulty breathing or shortness of breath


What We’re Doing to Safely Provide Care

We are taking extraordinary precautions to ensure we safely serve patients in our dental practices.  

Extra cleaning and sanitation: Our practices have always maintained a safe and clean environment. We have added enhanced cleaning and disinfection measures to all areas, including high-touchpoint areas (surfaces, dental chairs, bathrooms, etc) inside of each practice – this effort is on top of our standard stringent protocols.

Social distancing guidelines:  We are allowing only patients who are receiving care to enter a practice. Please notify your location of any special accommodations. No additional guests or family members will be allowed to accompany the patient during the visit. When necessary, patients’ family and support networks can assist with appointment arrivals. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Our practices continue to have access to and use PPE (surgical masks, face shields, gloves, gowns etc) for your protection and our staff’s protection during care.

Caring for staff: Our staff members continue to follow guidelines to ensure their health and safety, which includes not reporting to work if they are ill, frequently taking their temperature during work hours, and maintaining stringent infection control best practices including hand washing and use of hand sanitizers.

 

What You’ll Experience With Our New Appointment Protocol

Prior to your appointment, each patient will receive a virtual phone screening to go over your current health status to ensure you are healthy prior to visiting a practice. During this screening we will review our new safety protocols that you will experience when you visit a practice. These protocols include:

  1. When you arrive, please to let the practice know you’re in the parking lot. Please be ready to tell the team member where you’re parked and the make/model/color of your vehicle. If you were dropped off or arrived by public transportation, please call the practice and wait outside.
  2. The team member will respond to you and bring any needed forms to your vehicle or outside to complete
  3. Please remain in your vehicle or outside while you complete all forms and give the team member a call when you’re ready with the completed forms. The team member will come outside to get the forms.
  4. Once the team member has the completed forms in hand, your mobile number will be called again to let you know when it’s time to enter the practice. 
  5. Our team member will greet you at the front door to take your temperature to ensure you do not have a fever. This is a safety precaution – we do this for all patients and staff.
  6. If you have a fever or are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment for a later date.
  7. If everything is normal, our team member will then bring you into the office and will let you know which treatment room you’ll be going to. We will not be asking you to wait in the lobby.
  8. Please note: we are not allowing guests or family members to escort you into the practice at this time, unless you have a documented medical concern requiring an escort. We hope you understand. Please let the practice know if you have any questions or concerns about this. The practice can arrange a video or conference call to discuss your treatment options if you’d like to include a family member or other party in the discussion and decision.
